A love song to a four-legged creature...a first for me. I wrote this for my new puppy, on the mandolin, on my front porch in Chicago a few nights after bringing him home from the pound.
It's funny that it really was intended as a way to put music to his actual playful movement, and I only put it on the album as a novelty, and yet it's probably the most "commented on" song on "Someone's Awake".
Yes, that's Jake's collar shaking at the beginning. He unintentionally wound up on so many recordings made in that apartment, I decided to purposefully put him on there on at least one track.
